PRODUCT DISCUSSION
This powerful formula combines popular ingredients for joint health—Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM.* Studies indicate that Glucosamine provides the building blocks for constructing cartilage while Chondroitin helps to maintain joint cartilage.* MSM is an organic source of sulfur, a mineral that is vital in the formation of collagen, connective tissue and healthy joint cartilage.* PhysioLogics’ superior joint formula is especially good for anyone seeking joint and connective tissue support.*
STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION
Glucosamine, a key component of cartilage and synovial fluid, is utilized as the main substrate in the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans (GAG)s and proteoglycans, the primary structural components in cartilage.* Glucosamine undergoes metabolic conversion to glucosamine-6-phosphate and subsequently to galactosamine, which is required for GAG assembly. This process promotes cartilage production and articular function.*
Chondroitin Sulfate is a highly charged polyanion that promotes fluid retention in the connective tissue to support joint flexibility and cushion joints.* Composed of N-acetyl-galactosamine and glucuronic acid, Chondroitin Sulfate provides a raw material for proteoglycan and GAG synthesis to help renew cartilage.* Chondroitin Sulfate also promotes healthy enzymatic metabolism of cartilage, to further maintain joint health.*
MSM provides cartilage and joint support.* Cartilage is a fibrous, elastic connective tissue that functions as a cushioning layer for joints and is comprised of an extracellular matrix made of complex proteins known as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) and proteoglycans. Sulfur is used in the body as a constituent of certain amino acids, collagen and disulfide bonds, and provides a raw material for the production of GAGs and collagen.*
