Chelation and Clathration
At Maxam Nutraceutics, we consider chelation therapy a vital step toward cleansing the body of contaminants but also knew it was imperative that we isolate a more effective product to complete the toxin-removal task efficiently. What is Chelation? Chelation is a well-known method of heavy metal and toxin removal in which a special drug or chemical compound called a chelate – such as dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), dimercaptopropane sulfonate (DMPS), or ethylene diaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) – is given, usually intravenously. The chelate finds and forms a single attachment to the toxin with one reversible ionic bond. With that bond intact, the toxin is grabbed onto, pulled off the cell and carried from the body. However, the toxin is not neutralized during this process and is potentially able to attach to other cells on its way out. Conventional chelation also has a harder time clearing heavy metals from cells (due to having just one type of bond to attach with) and some chelating substances even remove needed minerals from the body with the toxins, resulting in some adverse side effects.
What is Clathration? Clathration is a unique form of chelation therapy in which the clathrating substance – such as PCA-Rx – is given orally. This clathrate then finds and encloses the toxin in a three-dimensional cage-like inclusion complex (also known as a lattice structure or matrix) using three different types of irreversible bonds. These bonds attach to and completely envelop the toxin – essentially neutralizing it – to keep it from coming into contact with any other bodily tissues as it is carried from the body. What Are These Contaminants and How Do They Enter The Body?

Aluminum
Antacids, antiperspirants, baking powders, beverage/food cans, buffered aspirin, canned foods, city water supplies, cookware and utensils, cosmetics, foil, lipstick, ore smelting plants, processed cheeses, etc.
Abundant in today's environment and toxic in excessive quantities, aluminum is mostly absorbed through the skin, lungs, and intestinal tract. Aluminum toxicity seems to affect the bones (causing brittleness or osteoporosis), kidneys, stomach, and brain. Research suggests that it may also contribute to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and other neurological disorders.
Arsenic
Chemical processing plants, cigarette smoke, drinking water, fungicides, meats and seafood, metal foundries, ore smelting plants, pesticides, polluted air, specialty glass products, weed killers, wood preservatives, etc.
Extremely poisonous as well as colorless and odorless, arsenic can enter the body through the mouth, lungs and skin. Exposure to cadmium can occur through inhalation or ingestion in places or situations where cadmium products are used, manufactured, or ingested. It may lead to lung C, prostate C and heart disease, and also causes yellow teeth and anemia. Cadmium also seems to contribute to autoimmune thyroid disease.
Lead
Air pollution, ammunition, auto exhaust, batteries, containers for corrosives, contaminated soil, cosmetics, fertilizers, foods (if grown in lead-contaminated soil), hair dyes, insecticides, lead-based paints, lead-glazed pottery, pesticides, solder, tobacco smoke, water (if transported via lead pipes), etc.
Lead is a naturally-occurring neurotoxin. Although many lead-containing products (such as gasoline and house paints) were banned in the 1970s, contamination still occurs today mostly by drinking lead-contaminated water, breathing lead-polluted air, and living in or near older painted buildings and certain toxic industrial areas. Lead toxicity primarily targets the nervous system, kidneys, bones, heart and blood, and poses greatest risk to infants, young children and pregnant women. It can affect fetal development, delay growth, and may also cause attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, behavioral defects, and other developmental problems.
Mercury
Air pollution, barometers, batteries, cosmetics, dental amalgam fillings, freshwater fish (such as bass and trout), fungicides, insecticides, laxatives, paints, pesticides, saltwater fish (such as tuna and swordfish), shellfish, tap and well water, thermometers, thermostats, vaccines, etc.
Both poisonous and dangerous, mercury is found throughout our environments in many forms and also in many household items. Mercury often permeates the ground we walk on, and is also found in some childhood vaccines today because of its use as a preservative. Mercury as used in dental fillings is the primary source of toxic exposure, and in vapor form accounts for the majority of all exposures (via inhalation). Mercury toxicity can affect the central nervous system, kidneys and liver. Research suggests that this heavy metal may also contribute to autism and multiple sclerosis.
Thallium
Infrared and electric eye optical devices, foods (if grown in thallium-contaminated soil), light-sensitive crystals, photocells, rodent and ant poisons (now discontinued), contaminated cocaine (or what is thought to be cocaine), semiconductors, etc.
Thallium is a toxic heavy metal with no known biological function. Human contamination can occur from oral ingestion as well as through the skins and lungs, especially if exposed to thallium-contaminated dust from lead and zinc smelting plants, pyrite burners, and similar processing sites. Thallium toxicity mainly affects the nervous system, and can lead to maladies such as hair loss, nerve degeneration, extremity numbness, and cataracts.

Description
Arterial Plaque
Diet (such as intake of fat, cholesterol, and sugar), lack of exercise, smoking, stress, weight, etc.
This is a buildup of fatty material, calcium, cell debris, connective tissue, and/or other deposits that accumulate on the inner walls of arteries due to various factors. The body builds up these plaque deposits to protect the artery’s walls, and it can eventually lead to vessel narrowing, restricted blood flow, stroke, and heart attack. Cardiovascular plaque and cerebrovascular plaque refer to buildup in the blood vessels of the heart and brain, respectively.
Mycoplasmas
Infected people (via coughing, sneezing, etc.), self-replication, etc.
These are microorganisms found living in the blood and cells of people with certain chronic diseases. Both disease-causing and parasitic, mycoplasmas are similar to typical bacteria but have no solid cell walls – resulting in a shape-shifting ability that makes them hard to identify and eradicate. Mycoplasmas are known to cause various unrelated diseases on their own as well as act as co-pathogens in other diseases. They adapt well to changing conditions and can move anywhere within the human body, invading and attaching to either the inside or outside of their chosen host cells without killing them. Different species of mycoplasmas have now been linked to diseases like pneumonia, fibromyalgia, lupus, Alzheimer’s disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, and many others.
PCB's
Contaminated air, food, soil, water, etc.
These comprise the large group of chlorinated liquid and solid chemicals no longer produced in the U.S. but which still remain at large in the environment due to their binding abilities and lengthy breakdown periods. PCBs still taint air, water and soil in their places of manufacture, use, disposal, spillage, and leakage. In these areas, exposure to PCBs can occur through skin contact, inhalation, and ingestion of contaminated water, fish, and marine mammals.
Vaccination Residues
Immunizations for diphtheria, hepatitis B, Haemophilis influenzae type B (HIB), measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), etc.
Harmful toxins can remain in the body after certain vaccines for childhood and adult disease prevention are given. These leftover toxins (such as thimerosol, a known source of mercury and a suspected cause of childhood autism) can contribute to heavy metal burden and lead to other dangers.
Pesticide Residues

Non-organic fruits and vegetables can contain various neurotoxins and carcinogens left over from pesticide use. Non-contrail substances sprayed from airplanes in streaks and web-like patterns at both low and high altitudes are believed by many to contain chemicals for population control, weather manipulation, large-scale vaccinations, and other unknown and/or unproven government programs. (Contrails, by contrast, are the normal white streams of cloud-like condensed water vapor that often trail aircraft flying at high altitudes.) Analyses of spray residues have revealed aluminum, barium, biological organisms, pathogens, and other contaminants. Exposure can occur through the air via descending particles, and reported exposure symptoms include skin rashes, sore throat, itchy eyes, asthma attacks, and respiratory ailments.
At birth, when first exposed to the outside world, the body – guided by a genetic disposition inherited from the parents– begins developing antibodies to defend against external poisons affecting the system. During life the body keeps building antibodies in reaction to most everything it encounters: cooked/processed foods (and their preservatives), chemicals/toxins in the air and ground, other environmental contaminants, drugs, inoculations, dental fillings, sexual partners, and other exposures.
As the body keeps building its protective wall of antibodies, the immune system – like a cup gradually filling with liquid – continues to fill over the years while the body continues to fight against external invaders, forced to build and keep up the wall of antibodies. Eventually, when the body has been fighting too hard and long, and the immune system’s “cup” reaches its saturation point and finally overfills, the onset of disease (C, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, or some other chronic illness) often begins. No matter what the disease, its creation began with the person’s first breath on this planet and can often be attributed to the body’s constant bombardment from external toxins during life. PCA-Rx can gradually rid the body of its lifelong accumulation of toxins, allowing the immune system to function more effectively and further promoting wellness in the body.
Toxicity Warning Signs
In general, you may not be aware of heavy metals and/or other harmful toxins saturating your body even though it is trying to give you warning signs of their growing (and often overflowing) presence. The body’s immune system can only withstand so much saturation by external toxins over time, often culminating in symptoms that may include the following:

These are only general warning signs and this is by no means a complete list. Also, in children, the appearance of the symptoms of autism (slow developmental progress, difficulty verbalizing, etc.) can also be an indication of heavy metal toxicity. Exposure to certain heavy metals is now thought to contribute to childhood autism.
What Is the Autism Connection?
Alarmingly, the approximate rate of autism has escalated from as low as one in 10,000 people not that long ago to as high as one in 150 children today in certain areas. Amazingly, PCA-Rx has proved to be extremely effective in reversing some of the symptoms of autism in children. Although PCA-Rx was not developed to specifically fight autism – its effectiveness on the disorder was an unexpected and wonderful side effect – it has nonetheless been found to work wonders in this capacity in cases where the buildup of heavy metals or toxins contribute to the autism. When used as an oral clathration method, PCA-Rx has been proven to perform as well or better against the childhood autistic condition than other traditional chelation treatments (such as with DMSA and DMPS), but without the side effects. Similarly, PCA-Rx also seems to be an effective treatment against other environmental illnesses (EIs) like angina, fibromyalgia, and Parkinson’s disease.
How It Works
PCA-Rx operates under the concept of peptide clathration. In simplest terms, this living product is a liquid mixture of specially-developed bacteria and other living microscopic entities seeking out and hunting down contaminants in the body. “Our health is the collective expression of all the microbes living within us,” says Maxam Nutraceutics founder/president Jim Cole, “and the collective expression of their consciousness and intentions.” In essence, PCA-Rx focuses on increasing the level of positive microbe consciousness and intentions within a body saturated with toxins.
PCA-Rx is the first-ever oral peptide clathration formula and the most effective chelating substance discovered so far. (See What Is Chelation? and What Is Clathration? above for related information.)
Toxin Attachment. It is PCA-Rx’s specifically-sequenced peptides that form the unique toxin-surrounding matrix structure that is unique to the clathration process. (Peptides link together to form proteins, the primary components of the protoplasm of all cells in the body.) First, PCA-Rx separates the toxin from its receptor on the host cell and replaces it with a molecule of its own (preventing other toxins from attaching to the cell), leaving the toxin in a free-floating state. Multiple receptor sites on the peptide matrix then attach to the toxin with three types of strong irreversible bonds (ionic, covalent, and hydrogen), literally wrapping around it to prevent any additional contact with tissues or organs as it is eliminated from the body. Other chelating substances, by contrast, can only bind to a toxin with a single reversible ionic bond at one receptor site as it attempts to tow it out of the system, leaving it free to interact with anything it comes into contact with while in transit. PCA-Rx targets all toxic and unnatural elements in the blood, lymph and spinal fluid, removing anything that is not part of normal cell structure and integrity.
Note that PCA-Rx will not attach to and remove any of the body’s beneficial minerals because those belonging in the body are solidly bound and shielded by their own natural enzymes. Heavy metals and toxins have no natural enzymes to protect them, so PCA-Rx can effectively target all non-complex, loosely-bound metals and toxins for removal. However, if there is too much of a natural mineral in the body (as with calcium plaque deposits on arterial walls), PCA-Rx will attach to it as well.
Nutrient Absorption in Cells. PCA-Rx’s nutrients (part of Maxam’s SMART™ Nutrients technology) are cell site specific, meaning that their delivery to contaminated cells only occurs when the proper cells are found. Because PCA-Rx is a natural colloid and its nutrient particle sizes are so concentrated and small (formulated in nanograms as opposed to milligrams or micrograms), it simulates natural bodily fluids and the body recognizes it as a nutrient – ensuring efficient absorption. These minute particles also give the water portion of the solution a lower surface tension (due to the hydrogen bond angles being increased to 180 degrees, forming linear water and thus making the water “wetter”), thereby enabling more efficient absorption through the mucous membranes of the mouth. Also, each nutrient particle carries a negative surface charge while cell walls have a positive charge, so absorption from the bloodstream into the cell occurs electrokinetically – that is, the nutrients are literally pulled directly into the cell under the “opposites attract” principle. This is a much more efficient method than osmosis (absorption through cell membranes), where only 50% is the maximum level achieved.
More On the Clathration Process. Once absorbed, PCA-Rx easily gains access to the mitochondria of the cell (cell structures containing genetic material and enzymes for cell metabolism), where it gets to the heart of its housecleaning project. There, its tiny components bind to cell receptor sites with greater effectiveness than the heavy metals and/or other toxins already there, thereby releasing them from the receptors. A companion molecule then clathrates (surrounds and engulfs) the toxin, holding onto it until being eliminated from the body through the stool, urine, skin, and breath. PCA-Rx bonds to contaminants with ionic, covalent and hydrogen bonds as compared to DMPS (the most commonly used chelating agent in the past), which utilizes only a single ionic bond. The strength of having three types of bonds at multiple cell receptor sites makes PCA-Rx so effective against heavy metals as well as other bodily toxins.
Heavy Metal Clathration Specifics. The heavy metals clathrated by PCA-Rx include lead, thallium, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum, and mercury. They are clathrated in that same order based on their descending valences. (Valence is a number representing the ability of an element to react or combine with another, as measured by the number of bonds to other atoms that one atom of the given element forms in chemical reactions.) This order of clathration is important to know because, for example, if a person’s body is contaminated with lead or another higher-valence heavy metal, the mercury readings in their urine will not drop until the metals with higher valences are clathrated first.
Autism Treatment. Autism is a perplexing disorder for which there is no standard and consistently-accepted treatment. Many autistic children are treated with traditionally-used chelation substances (like DMSA and DMPS) to counteract the abnormal effects of the disorder when heavy metal toxicity is suspected as a cause. However, PCA-Rx’s clathrating qualities have been found to work as well or even better against symptoms of autism in kids, without the side effects. PCA-Rx has also shown to be effective against symptoms of other EIs – such as angina, Crohn’s disease, Epstein-Barr virus, fibromyalgia and Parkinson’s disease, to name a few – also thought to be caused by toxic exposure.
It is thought that childhood autism could be triggered by vaccinations that young kids receive for measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) and, to a lesser degree, diphtheria (DPT). Specifically, it is thought that the measles component of the MMR vaccination and the pertussis (whooping cough) component of the DPT shot may be to blame. Most autistic children are normal and functioning well up until the time they receive their MMR and DPT vaccinations, which have been found to leave autism-triggering toxic residues in the body. PCA-Rx has proven to be a safe and effective weapon for finding and removing – through clathration – some of these harmful residues from the bodies of young autism sufferers. Some 50 years ago, Australian physician John Cade observed the calming effect that lithium had on small animals. After testing the safety of lithium on himself, Cade ventured to try it on people suffering from the wild mood swings of manic depression.
Millions of prescriptions later, lithium remains the most popular choice for treating manic depression, although scientists do not understand how it quells mania or relieves depression. "It’s still a mystery," says De-Maw Chuang of the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Md.
Now, there’s a new clue to this riddle. Chuang and his colleagues have found that lithium protects brain cells from being stimulated to death by glutamate, one of the many chemicals that transmit messages in the brain.
The new data suggest that lithium may calm overexcited areas of the brain or, more provocatively, preserve the life of brain cells whose presence guards against manic depression.
This finding "potentially contributes a lot to the field," says Husseini K. Manji of Wayne State University in Detroit. "If we could figure out how lithium works, we could theoretically come up with better drugs and perhaps understand what’s going on in manic depression."
Chuang and his colleagues tested the response of various types of rat brain cells to glutamate. Many normal cells and cells soaked in lithium for only a day died from a form of suicide that often results when this neurotransmitter over-stimulates a brain cell.
Yet rat brain cells soaked in lithium for about a week committed suicide much more rarely when exposed to glutamate, Chuang’s group reports in the March 3 Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The effect was seen in cells from several brain regions.
The delay in protection is particularly striking, notes Manji, since a hallmark of lithium therapy is that it can take a week or longer to benefit people. Consequently, scientists have been looking for the long-term actions of lithium on brain cells.
Chuang’s team also examined the role of the NMDA receptor, the cell surface protein that glutamate binds to when it excites a cell. While cells soaked in lithium for a week had as many NMDA receptors as untreated cells, the treated cells responded differently.
Normally, activation of the NMDA receptor by glutamate triggers an influx of calcium ions, setting off a signaling cascade inside cells. However, cells soaked in lithium for a week let in far less calcium when exposed to glutamate.
In people with manic depression, lithium may correct a dysfunction of the NMDA receptor by limiting calcium influx, speculates Chuang.
Both Chuang and Manji also note that a small body of evidence suggests that people with mania or depression may lose brain cells. Lithium may thwart that cell death, they say. Indeed, Manji has some evidence that lithium-treated cells eventually begin to overproduce a protein that stymies the cell’s internal suicide program.
If lithium protects brain cells from death by glutamate over-stimulation, it may have uses beyond manic depression. This form of cell death occurs in strokes and in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s diseases. Chuang is investigating whether lithium protects mice from similar neurodegenerative illnesses.

Carnitine is essential for the production of energy from fats, a process called
fatty acid oxidation. Major body tissues, such as the heart and skeletal muscles,
depend on fatty acid oxidation as a primary source of energy. L-Carnitine promotes
proper fatty acid oxidation by transporting long-chain fatty acids into the
mitochondria for energy production.
Also, L-Carnitine facilitates the metabolism of carbohydrates, enhances the

Chelation and Clathration
At Maxam Nutraceutics, we consider chelation therapy a vital step toward cleansing the body of contaminants but also knew it was imperative that we isolate a more effective product to complete the toxin-removal task efficiently. We also believe that chelation will soon become a primary frontline treatment for severely and chronically ill patients. Our research and development resulted in the creation of PCA-Rx, a breakthrough peptide clathration formula and our solution to physiological toxicity. Laboratory studies have shown it to effectively clear heavy metals, toxins, plaque, pesticides, chemicals, and residuals from prior bacterial and viral infections. It also seems to target the liver for detoxification, lower elevated enzyme counts, and reverse some of the symptoms of autism in children.
What is Chelation? Chelation is a well-known method of heavy metal and toxin removal in which a special drug or chemical compound called a chelate – such as dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), dimercaptopropane sulfonate (DMPS), or ethylene diaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) – is given, usually intravenously. The chelate finds and forms a single attachment to the toxin with one reversible ionic bond. With that bond intact, the toxin is grabbed onto, pulled off the cell and carried from the body. However, the toxin is not neutralized during this process and is potentially able to attach to other cells on its way out. Conventional chelation also has a harder time clearing heavy metals from cells (due to having just one type of bond to attach with) and some chelating substances even remove needed minerals from the body with the toxins, resulting in some adverse side effects.
What is Clathration? Clathration is a unique form of chelation therapy in which the clathrating substance – such as PCA-Rx – is given orally. This clathrate then finds and encloses the toxin in a three-dimensional cage-like inclusion complex (also known as a lattice structure or matrix) using three different types of irreversible bonds. These bonds attach to and completely envelop the toxin – essentially neutralizing it – to keep it from coming into contact with any other bodily tissues as it is carried from the body. What Are These Contaminants and How Do They Enter The Body?
The world, environment, and societies where we live have made bodily contamination impossible to ignore. Through eating, breathing, skin absorption, and everyday exposure to limitless products and chemicals made and used by humans, contaminants find their ways into the body.
Over time these heavy metals, toxic chemicals and residues, plaques and other unnatural intruders continue to slowly accumulate. Antacids, antiperspirants, baking powders, beverage/food cans, buffered aspirin, canned foods, city water supplies, cookware and utensils, cosmetics, foil, lipstick, ore smelting plants, processed cheeses, etc.
Abundant in today's environment and toxic in excessive quantities, aluminum is mostly absorbed through the skin, lungs, and intestinal tract. Aluminum toxicity seems to affect the bones (causing brittleness or osteoporosis), kidneys, stomach, and brain. Research suggests that it may also contribute to Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and other neurological disorders.
Arsenic
Chemical processing plants, cigarette smoke, drinking water, fungicides, meats and seafood, metal foundries, ore smelting plants, pesticides, polluted air, specialty glass products, weed killers, wood preservatives, etc.
Extremely poisonous as well as colorless and odorless, arsenic can enter the body through the mouth, lungs and skin. Arsenic toxicity seems to predominantly affect the skin, lungs and gastrointestinal system, and may cause nervous disorders, deteriorated motor coordination, respiratory diseases, and kidney damage as well as Cs of the skin, liver, bladder and lungs.
Cadmium

Exposure to cadmium can occur through inhalation or ingestion in places or situations where cadmium products are used, manufactured, or ingested. Cigarette smoke is the biggest source of cadmium toxicity, which seems to primarily affect the lungs, kidneys, bones, and immune system. It may lead to lung C, prostate C and heart disease, and also causes yellow teeth and anemia. Cadmium also seems to contribute to autoimmune thyroid disease.
Lead
Air pollution, ammunition, auto exhaust, batteries, containers for corrosives, contaminated soil, cosmetics, fertilizers, foods (if grown in lead-contaminated soil), hair dyes, insecticides, lead-based paints, lead-glazed pottery, pesticides, solder, tobacco smoke, water (if transported via lead pipes), etc.
Lead is a naturally-occurring neurotoxin. Although many lead-containing products (such as gasoline and house paints) were banned in the 1970s, contamination still occurs today mostly by drinking lead-contaminated water, breathing lead-polluted air, and living in or near older painted buildings and certain toxic industrial areas. Lead toxicity primarily targets the nervous system, kidneys, bones, heart and blood, and poses greatest risk to infants, young children and pregnant women. It can affect fetal development, delay growth, and may also cause attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, behavioral defects, and other developmental problems.
Mercury
Air pollution, barometers, batteries, cosmetics, dental amalgam fillings, freshwater fish (such as bass and trout), fungicides, insecticides, laxatives, paints, pesticides, saltwater fish (such as tuna and swordfish), shellfish, tap and well water, thermometers, thermostats, vaccines, etc.
Both poisonous and dangerous, mercury is found throughout our environments in many forms and also in many household items. Mercury often permeates the ground we walk on, and is also found in some childhood vaccines today because of its use as a preservative. Mercury as used in dental fillings is the primary source of toxic exposure, and in vapor form accounts for the majority of all exposures (via inhalation). Mercury toxicity can affect the central nervous system, kidneys and liver. Research suggests that this heavy metal may also contribute to autism and multiple sclerosis.
Thallium
Infrared and electric eye optical devices, foods (if grown in thallium-contaminated soil), light-sensitive crystals, photocells, rodent and ant poisons (now discontinued), contaminated cocaine (or what is thought to be cocaine), semiconductors, etc.
Thallium is a toxic heavy metal with no known biological function. Human contamination can occur from oral ingestion as well as through the skins and lungs, especially if exposed to thallium-contaminated dust from lead and zinc smelting plants, pyrite burners, and similar processing sites. Arterial Plaque
Diet (such as intake of fat, cholesterol, and sugar), lack of exercise, smoking, stress, weight, etc.
This is a buildup of fatty material, calcium, cell debris, connective tissue, and/or other deposits that accumulate on the inner walls of arteries due to various factors. The body builds up these plaque deposits to protect the artery’s walls, and it can eventually lead to vessel narrowing, restricted blood flow, stroke, and heart attack. Cardiovascular plaque and cerebrovascular plaque refer to buildup in the blood vessels of the heart and brain, respectively.
Mycoplasmas
Infected people (via coughing, sneezing, etc.), self-replication, etc.
These are microorganisms found living in the blood and cells of people with certain chronic diseases. Both disease-causing and parasitic, mycoplasmas are similar to typical bacteria but have no solid cell walls – resulting in a shape-shifting ability that makes them hard to identify and eradicate. Mycoplasmas are known to cause various unrelated diseases on their own as well as act as co-pathogens in other diseases. They adapt well to changing conditions and can move anywhere within the human body, invading and attaching to either the inside or outside of their chosen host cells without killing them. PCB's
Contaminated air, food, soil, water, etc.
These comprise the large group of chlorinated liquid and solid chemicals no longer produced in the U.S. but which still remain at large in the environment due to their binding abilities and lengthy breakdown periods. PCBs still taint air, water and soil in their places of manufacture, use, disposal, spillage, and leakage. In these areas, exposure to PCBs can occur through skin contact, inhalation, and ingestion of contaminated water, fish, and marine mammals.

At birth, when first exposed to the outside world, the body – guided by a genetic disposition inherited from the parents– begins developing antibodies to defend against external poisons affecting the system. During life the body keeps building antibodies in reaction to most everything it encounters: cooked/processed foods (and their preservatives), chemicals/toxins in the air and ground, other environmental contaminants, drugs, inoculations, dental fillings, sexual partners, and other exposures.

What Is the Autism Connection?
Alarmingly, the approximate rate of autism has escalated from as low as one in 10,000 people not that long ago to as high as one in 150 children today in certain areas. How It Works
PCA-Rx operates under the concept of peptide clathration. In simplest terms, this living product is a liquid mixture of specially-developed bacteria and other living microscopic entities seeking out and hunting down contaminants in the body. “Our health is the collective expression of all the microbes living within us,” says Maxam Nutraceutics founder/president Jim Cole, “and the collective expression of their consciousness and intentions.” In essence, PCA-Rx focuses on increasing the level of positive microbe consciousness and intentions within a body saturated with toxins.
PCA-Rx is the first-ever oral peptide clathration formula and the most effective chelating substance discovered so far. (See What Is Chelation? and What Is Clathration? above for related information.)
Toxin Attachment. It is PCA-Rx’s specifically-sequenced peptides that form the unique toxin-surrounding matrix structure that is unique to the clathration process. (Peptides link together to form proteins, the primary components of the protoplasm of all cells in the body.) First, PCA-Rx separates the toxin from its receptor on the host cell and replaces it with a molecule of its own (preventing other toxins from attaching to the cell), leaving the toxin in a free-floating state. Multiple receptor sites on the peptide matrix then attach to the toxin with three types of strong irreversible bonds (ionic, covalent, and hydrogen), literally wrapping around it to prevent any additional contact with tissues or organs as it is eliminated from the body. Other chelating substances, by contrast, can only bind to a toxin with a single reversible ionic bond at one receptor site as it attempts to tow it out of the system, leaving it free to interact with anything it comes into contact with while in transit. PCA-Rx targets all toxic and unnatural elements in the blood, lymph and spinal fluid, removing anything that is not part of normal cell structure and integrity.
Note that PCA-Rx will not attach to and remove any of the body’s beneficial minerals because those belonging in the body are solidly bound and shielded by their own natural enzymes. Heavy metals and toxins have no natural enzymes to protect them, so PCA-Rx can effectively target all non-complex, loosely-bound metals and toxins for removal. However, if there is too much of a natural mineral in the body (as with calcium plaque deposits on arterial walls), PCA-Rx will attach to it as well.
Nutrient Absorption in Cells. PCA-Rx’s nutrients (part of Maxam’s SMART™ Nutrients technology) are cell site specific, meaning that their delivery to contaminated cells only occurs when the proper cells are found. Because PCA-Rx is a natural colloid and its nutrient particle sizes are so concentrated and small (formulated in nanograms as opposed to milligrams or micrograms), it simulates natural bodily fluids and the body recognizes it as a nutrient – ensuring efficient absorption. These minute particles also give the water portion of the solution a lower surface tension (due to the hydrogen bond angles being increased to 180 degrees, forming linear water and thus making the water “wetter”), thereby enabling more efficient absorption through the mucous membranes of the mouth. Also, each nutrient particle carries a negative surface charge while cell walls have a positive charge, so absorption from the bloodstream into the cell occurs electrokinetically – that is, the nutrients are literally pulled directly into the cell under the “opposites attract” principle. This is a much more efficient method than osmosis (absorption through cell membranes), where only 50% is the maximum level achieved.
More On the Clathration Process. Once absorbed, PCA-Rx easily gains access to the mitochondria of the cell (cell structures containing genetic material and enzymes for cell metabolism), where it gets to the heart of its housecleaning project. There, its tiny components bind to cell receptor sites with greater effectiveness than the heavy metals and/or other toxins already there, thereby releasing them from the receptors. A companion molecule then clathrates (surrounds and engulfs) the toxin, holding onto it until being eliminated from the body through the stool, urine, skin, and breath. PCA-Rx bonds to contaminants with ionic, covalent and hydrogen bonds as compared to DMPS (the most commonly used chelating agent in the past), which utilizes only a single ionic bond. The strength of having three types of bonds at multiple cell receptor sites makes PCA-Rx so effective against heavy metals as well as other bodily toxins.
Heavy Metal Clathration Specifics. The heavy metals clathrated by PCA-Rx include lead, thallium, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum, and mercury. They are clathrated in that same order based on their descending valences. (Valence is a number representing the ability of an element to react or combine with another, as measured by the number of bonds to other atoms that one atom of the given element forms in chemical reactions.) This order of clathration is important to know because, for example, if a person’s body is contaminated with lead or another higher-valence heavy metal, the mercury readings in their urine will not drop until the metals with higher valences are clathrated first.
Autism Treatment. Autism is a perplexing disorder for which there is no standard and consistently-accepted treatment. Many autistic children are treated with traditionally-used chelation substances (like DMSA and DMPS) to counteract the abnormal effects of the disorder when heavy metal toxicity is suspected as a cause. However, PCA-Rx’s clathrating qualities have been found to work as well or even better against symptoms of autism in kids, without the side effects.
